| Shindong Corp. was established in 1966. Its initial name, Shindong Mulsan Corp., was changed to Shindong Trading Co., Ltd.. It was renamed Shindong Corp. (its current name) in 1978 when the company started manufacturing and exporting clothing from its factory at Goejeong-dong, Seo-gu, Busan. The company established a subsidiary in the United States in 1977 and has since been expanding its exports to the nation and other areas. It has been steadily exploring overseas markets for sportswear exports like ski wear, and for high-priced wear exports such as casual jackets and coats. In 1988, it posted USD40 million in clothing exports. The company started Shindong Wine Co., Ltd. (http://www.shindongwine.co.kr) and Shindong Wine Sales Co., Ltd. in 1991. Furthermore, through its newly established Furniture Division, it imports and sells world-class art furniture and Italian Zanotta and German Driade furniture. It acquired and merged with Ilshin Industry (a bonded warehouse firm) in 1999, which it has since been operating as its Logistics Division. It also operates a Wine Storage Warehouse, a Mineral Water Division, and a Real Estate Division. |
